\2v\ ⟨…⟩ هذا كتاب أمر لتفسيره الإمام المأمون عند الله أمير المؤمنين من اللسان الروميّ إلى اللسان العربيّ على يد الحجاج بن يوسف الحاسب وسرجون بن هليا الروميّ في سنة اثنتي عشرة ومائتين من سني الهجرة، هجرة النبي محمّد صلّى الله عليه وسلّم. وهو الكتاب الكبير الذي يقال له المجسطي، كتبه بطلميوس القلوذي في علم حساب النجوم والحركات اللواتي في السماء. وفي هذا الكتاب ثلاثة عشر قولًا، في كلّ قول منها أنواع من أنواع هذا العلم سيذكرها عند أوّل كلّ قول إن شاء الله. أمّا القول الأوّل — \219r\ ⟨…⟩ وإذ قد تمّ وكمل هذا ومثله يا سوري وسهل سبيل جميع ما كان ينبغي أن نعلم من ذلك تقدّر ما بلغه عقلي وتقدّر ما أعاننا على وجود حقيقته وتقويمه وتصحيحه الزمان الذي انتهى بنا إلى زماننا هذا. وليس للمباهاة والافتخار به، ولكن للمنفعة به فقط. فلنصير هذا الموضع الذي انتهينا إليه خاتمة هذا الكتاب وتمامه بما يشبهه من خاصّته وحسن تقديره. تمّ القول الثالث عشر من كتاب بطلميوس الذي يقال له المجسطي. وتمّ كتاب المجسطي وكمل وهو يليه عشر قولًا. والحمد لله ربّ العالمين وصلواته على رسوله محمّد المصطفى وآله أجمعين.
